Plum Pulegoso Glass Vase, Italy, c.1980s

A substantial Italian art glass vase in a deep plum tone, formed in a beautifully restrained tapered silhouette. The glass is densely worked with fine bubbles, creating a smoky, almost granular appearance that becomes increasingly translucent as light passes through it.

The colour is particularly good - somewhere between oxblood, aubergine and deep wine - graduating into a smoky grey towards the heavy base. Its simple form allows the material to take centre stage; viewed from a distance it feels monolithic and architectural, while up close the surface reveals extraordinary depth and texture. A quietly dramatic piece of Italian glass that works equally well as a functional vase or sculptural object. v

Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with minor surface wear consistent with age. Any variations, bubbles and irregularities within the glass are inherent to its handmade manufacture. No cracks, scratches or chips noted.
