Large Waved Abstract Logico Glass Sconce for Artemide, Italy, c.1980s

Form, no fluff.

Designed by Michele De Lucchi and Gerhard Reichert for Artemide, the Logico wall lamp is formed from overlapping folds of softly rippled glass, creating an architectural shade that appears almost like draped fabric.

The substantial moulded glass panels curve and overlap across the front of the fitting, diffusing the light while allowing glimpses of illumination through the changing thickness of the glass. Lit or unlit, its sculptural form gives the piece a wonderful sense of movement - somewhere between folded silk and ice.

An earlier production of one of Artemide’s most recognisable contemporary lighting designs, the large-scale Logico works as much as an architectural object on the wall as it does a functional light.
